In CCDS studies, recognition of aliasing is often a useful clue to the location of areas of highest flow velocity, such as points of maximal carotid artery, dialysis shunt, or A-V fistula flow acceleration. If aliasing is also encountered in the spectral waveform display it may be necessary to use higher PRF values, a Doppler angle closer to 90 degrees (remembering that angles greater than 60 degrees are associated with decreasing accuracy of measurement), or a transducer of lower frequency (or even a continuous-wave Doppler instrument in some settings, since CW units are not subject to aliasing).
